Can you imagine a village with single house?

If we imagine a village in our mind, we view a dozen of small huts with fields all around and a population not more than 100 people. But you will be surprised to know that there exists a village in the tribal district, Lahaul Spiti of Himachal Pradesh which has just a single house. This village in Lahaul Spiti is known as Ninger Village. It is not a very strange thing for the residents of this district because the entire district of Lahaul Spiti has very difficult geographical conditions to live and as such thinly populated. Lahaul Spiti, though is the largest district in Himachal Pradesh (area-wise) but at the same time is the district with least population.

Being a single house in Ninger village, even then it is given the status of village as it is fully connected by road and government has provided the basic water and electricity facilities to this single house in Ninger village. This single house is situated at the top of hill surrounded by fields all around. About 10-15 people reside in this single house in Ninger village. There is a link road to Ninger village that has been constructed from Ruding village. The link road also connects the Ninger village to Lahaul Spiti headquarters.
