Internet users in India will triple by 2015

Internet, considered one of the remarkable inventions in the modern history has spread its web all around the world. India, a country with huge population also has a good percentage of internet users throughout the nation. With the passage of time this percentage is going to increase by a great amount as availing a computer and internet facility will be much cheaper in the coming future and common man will be able to use it.

It is estimated that withing 5 years of span, that is by the time we will reach 2015, the number of internet users in India will triple in amount. Presently, India has about 8.1 crore internet users throughout the nation and by 2015 this figure is going to touch 23,7 crore internet users in India. According to Boston Consulting Group’s report ‘Internet New Billion’, the number of internet users in Brazil, Russia, India, China and Indonesia (BRICI nations) will reach 1.2 Arab by 2015. This figure will be much higher than the internet users in Japan and U.S.A.

At present internet users in India are mostly concentrated in the cities. Moreover, internet users in India remain online in an average for half an hour/day, which is the lowest as compared to the internet users in the other BRICI nations. According to the ‘Internet New Billion’ report, this online duration of Indian internet users will increase to about 42 minutes/day by 2015.
