2nd October-Not only Gandhi Jayanti but Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti too!

2nd October is a national holiday in India to give honour to the most respectful personality of India, our ‘Father of the Nation’, Mahatma Gandhi as he was born on this day in the year 1869. 2nd October known by various names viz. ‘Gandhi Jayanti’, ‘Dry Day’, ‘International Non-Violence Day’. All these names are after Gandhiji and his principles. As Gandhiji used his strongest weapon of ‘Non-Violence’ to kick out the Britishers from India, 2nd October is internationally acclaimed as non-violence day.

2nd October is not just the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi but another renowned personality of India too. One of the great leaders of the nation and former Prime Minister of India, Lal Bahadur Shastri was also born on 2nd October. Let the name of this noteworthy leader be taken and remembered in the same fashion as Gandhiji’s on this occasion of 2nd October.

2nd October- Birthday of Gandhiji and Shastriji!

Lal Bahadur Shastri remained the Prime Minister of India for a period of 18 months and it was during his term of office when India was in very critical condition. In the year 1965 when Pakistan attacked India, Lal Bahadur Shastri was the Prime Minister. Lal Bahadur Shastri had a great affection towards the farmers of the nation and always considered agriculture the backbone of India. Lal Bahadur Shastri gave the famous slogan ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisaan’.

Salute to both these famous personalities who selflessly devoted themselves to the freedom and development of the nation. They were the real heroes who gave us this free air to survive and this free world to live in.
