Check Out My Coins of the Denomination: 2 Rupees!

2 Rupee Coins:

1. IX Asian Games: 1982. India was the host nation for the IX Asian Games in the year 1982 and Delhi was the venue. 1982 was a big year in the name of Indian sports and to commemorate this year, this coin was minted having the sign of Asian Games at the back side with small ‘Sun’ at the top and ‘Delhi’ written at the bottom. Also, the size of this 2 Rs. Coin is larger as compared to other normal coins.

2. Big 2 Rs. Coin: 1990. The coin has flag of India at the back side and the size of the coin is much larger than the other coins and similar to the size of 2 Rs. Coin (IX Asian Games).

3. Bio-Diversity, World Food Day: 1993. The coin shows diversity of plant and animal in water, land and air. The coin has picture showing water, fishes, mountain, land, cloud, birds, sun and trees showing the bio-diversity.

4. Happy Family: 1993. The coin shows a picture of ‘Happy Family’ of four members i.e. husband, wife, a boy and girl child. The girl child is shown carrying a bunch of balloons.

5. Water for Life, World Food Day: 1994. Telling the importance of water for the life of living organisms and an urge to conserve it and not to waste it, this coin shows a big drop of water.

6. Globalizing Indian Agriculture- 1995. The coin shows a head of a bull crossed by plough and surrounded by two leaflets and just below the head of bull it is written AGRIEXPO95.

7. 8th World Tamil Conference, Saint Thiruvalluvar: 1995. Just like 5Rs. coin, this 2 Rs. Coin has the picture of Saint Thiruvalluvar at the back side.

8. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel: 1996. The ‘Iron Man of India’, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was born in the year 1886 and in order to commemorate his 100 years of birth anniversary, this coin is minted with the picture of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the back side.

9. Subhash Chandra Bose Centenary: 1997. The famous slogan,“ You give me blood, I will give you freedom”, was given by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. This renowned freedom fighter,Subhash Chandra Bose was born in the year 1887 and to commemorate his 100 years of birth anniversary this coin was minted showing the picture of Subhash Chandra Bose.

10. Deshbandhu Chittranjan Das: 1998. Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das was born on 1870 and died in the year 1925 and this coin is minted to commemorate him and shows the picture of Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das.

11. Sri Aurobindo, All Life is Yoga: 1998. Stressing on the importance of ‘Yoga’ as a way to lead a health life, the coin commemorates Sri Aurobindo with its picture on the back side of the coin.

12. Chhatrapati Shivaji: 1999. Chhatrapati Shivaji’s name is written in golden words in Indian history for his extraordinary courage and boldness. To give respect to this Hindu legend, this coin shows the picture of Chhatrapati Shivaji dressed in the traditional Hindu style.

13. Supreme Court of India: 1950-2000. The highest judicial body of India, ‘Supreme Court’ came into existence three years after independence that is in the year 1950. In order to commemorate 50 successful years of its working, this coin was minted in the year 2000. The coin has ‘Ashoka’s Three lions’ with ‘Chakra’ at the top.

14. Simple 2 Rs. Coin: 2000. This is a simple 2 Rs. coin with Indian flag at the back side.

15. Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee Centenary: 2001. The coin shows the picture of Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee at the back side.

17. 150 Glorious Years Railway: 2003. It was in the year 1853 that first train in India made its journey on the railway track. In order to commemorate 150 years of Indian Railway in the year 2003, this coin was minted. The coin shows an Elephant popularly known as the ‘Bholu the Guard’ carrying a lamp.

18. 2 Rs. Coin with Double Cross: 2006. This is a new 2 Rs. coin with double cross sign on it and ‘dots’ on each of the four quadrants.

19. 2 Rs. Coin with Two Fingers: 2007. This is also a new 2 Rs. coin with a woman hand on it showing two fingers.

20. Louis Braille: 1809-2009. The man who made education easy to the blind people by the creating ‘Braille Script’ was himself a blind man, ‘Louis Braille’. Louis Braille was born in the year 1809 and in order to commemorate 200 years of birth anniversary of Louis Braille this coin was minted with the picture of Louis Braille and small dots showing a sample of ‘Braille Script’.
