Rajnikant and his record breaking movie ‘Enthiran’ !

It was a lot more than the festive occasion in South a month before Diwali, because their famous superstar Rajnikanth covered up almost all the big screens in South India with his multi-million movie ‘Enthiran’. ‘Enthiran’ also called ‘Robot’ was released in Telugu as ‘Enthiran’ in South India and in Hindi as ‘Robot’ in other parts of India on 1st October, 2010. As expected, considered to be the costliest movie in Indian cinema so far, ‘Enthiran’ left behind all the blockbusters and broke all the records. People were eagerly waiting for the movie ‘Enthiran’ to come in cinema halls and as such the movie got audience in bulk.

Record Breaking Facts of ‘Enthiran’ or ‘Robot’:

1. In the year 2010, Salman Khan starrer Bollywood movie ‘Dabangg’ got a huge audience and made a collection of Rs. 82 crore in the very first week and was the highest of the year. But who knew that the record of ‘Dabangg’ would not last soon as the South Indian star Rajnikanth will make his entry into the cinema halls with sci-fi ‘Enthiran’. In the very first week ‘Enthiran’ made a collection of astonishingly Rs. 117 crore surpassing ‘Dabangg’.

2. ‘Enthiran’ was released on October 1st, 2010 with 2,250 prints while ‘Dabangg’ was relased with just 1,400 prints.

3. Telugu version of movie, ‘Enthiran’ collected in total 102 crores viz. 60 crores in Tamil Nadu, Rs. 30 crore in Andhra Pradesh, Rs. 8 crore in Karnataka and Rs. 4 crore in Kerala in the first week. While the Hindi version of the movie, ‘Robot’ collected Rs. 15 croore in the very first week.

4. Looking into the total income from the movie, ‘Enthiran’ has become the highest grosser in India leaving behind big hits like ‘3 Idiots’ and ‘Dabangg’.

5. ‘Robot’ has also become the highest earning dubbed film in the very first of week of its release.


Rajnikanth always comes up with such fantastic movies for his fans. At the age of 61, Rajnikanth leaves behind all the Bollywood Khans when it comes to the fan following. Rajnikanth is also considered one of the highly paid actors in Indian cinema. It was in 1970’s when Rajnikanth made his entry into the movies and acted in films like ‘Moondru’, ‘Mudichu’. Rajnikanth also acted in Hindi films like ‘Andhra Kanoon’, ‘Geraftaar’, ‘Chalbaaz’ etc. Rajnikanth has around 150 films to his credit.
