Circulated (Commemorative and Republic) 10 Rupees Coins of India

Issue of commemorative coins in India started in the year 1964 with the issue of 1 Rupee coin: Jawaharlal Nehru 1889-1964. The coin was issued to commemorate our first Prime Minister of India Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru.  Later coins in all denominations were issued to commemorate various occasions/ Indian legends.

Circulated 10 Rupees Commemorative coins of India

1.       10 Rupees-Mahatma Gandhi 1869-1948: First issue of 10 Rupees commemorative coin in India. Year of mintage 1969. 80% silver coin weighing 15 gms.

2.       10 Rupees-Food for All: Year of mintage 1970. 80% silver coin weighing 15 gms.

3.       10 Rupees-25th Swatantarta Jayanti (25th Anniversary of Independence) 1947-1972:  Year of mintage 1972. 50% silver coin weighing 22.5 gms.

4.       10 Rupees-Homi Bhabha Birth Centenary 2008-2009: Year of mintage 2010. Bi-Metal (Nickel-Bronze) coin weighing 7.71 gms minted in Noida.

5.       10 Rupees-Reserve Bank of India –Platinum Jubilee 1935-2010: Year of mintage 2010. Bi-Metal (Nickel-Bronze) coin weighing 7.71 gms minted in Noida.

6.       10 Rupees- 60 Years of the Parliament of India 1952-2012: Year of mintage 2012. Bi-Metal (Nickel-Bronze) coin weighing 7.71 gms minted in Noida and Bombay.

7.       10 Rupees- Ter-Centenary of Gur-Ta-Gaddi:  Year of mintage 2008. Bi-Metal (Nickel-Bronze) coin weighing 7.71 gms minted in Hyderabad. This is not a circulated coin.



Circulated 10 Rupees Republic Coins of India
1.       10 Rupees Cross- Depicting Unit and Diversity:  Year of mintage 2005-2007. Bi-Metal (Nickel-Bronze) coin weighing 7.71 gms minted in Noida. This coin was the first issue of 10 Rupees Republic coins in India in Bi-Metal.

2.       10 Rupees-Depicting information and Technology: Year of mintage 2008-2010. Bi-Metal (Nickel-Bronze) coin weighing 7.71 gms minted in Noida.


3.       10 Rupees-New Rupee Symbol & Braille Symbol for 10: Year of mintage 2011. Bi-Metal (Nickel-Bronze) coin weighing 7.71 gms.
